The purpose is the why we are writing, when it comes to making a decision to why one is writing, we should have in mind weather we are trying to convince someone in to taking action or get funding for something. Or we could be trying to inform the person we are writing too about how to do a task or inform about an issue. When I was writing the tech description, I knew my purpose was to inform the reader on how to use the impact driver. I knew I couldn’t give any of my thoughts, since it was supposed to be written in third person point of view. When writing, my conclusion that’s where I could add a bit of the purpose and which audience, I was trying to have read my tech description (See figure 1). This provides of an overview of what was provided in the text but at the same time be used to inform the reader on why they were reading this in the first place, which was how to use an impact driver.
